General:

Adult Norway rats are commonly brown or gray in color, they have a grayish-white underbelly, and their body is long and heavily built. Adults are 10-12 inches in length on average, including the tail. Juveniles are 3-6 inches on average. They are often misidentified as large mice, which isn't the case at all. The tail of the Norway rat is shorter than its body and both the tail and ears are hairless and covered in scales. Like mice, rats continually defecate and urinate throughout the day. They can produce up to 50 droppings per day.
